How did you initially get started in the field of ABA?
I first became interested in ABA while working as a respite care provider for a child with autism during college. She was receiving ABA services at the time, and I was immediately intrigued—it was the first time I felt truly engaged and eager to learn more. This interest led me to apply to an ABA company, though I was initially rejected due to a lack of experience. However, I was determined to pursue this field and eventually found a company willing to take me on. I became an RBT and worked in that role for three years. Later, I stepped away from ABA to pursue a career in special education. While I loved my time as a teacher, I found myself missing the work I had done in ABA. That realization ultimately led me back to the field—and to Mindcolor.
Can you describe your journey within Mindcolor, from your starting position to where you are now?
I started at Mindcolor as an Operations Associate in Mequon, WI, where I managed daily operations and supported both staff and clients. When I found out I was pregnant, I knew my family would be relocating, but I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Mindcolor. It was the first time I truly felt at home with a company, and I wanted to find a way to continue growing within the organization. When I saw a remote position open in Talent Acquisition, I knew I had to take my chance. I shared my interest with my Center Director, who fully supported me and even put in a good word. Thanks to that support, I transitioned into a Talent Acquisition Coordinator role, and now I'm excited to be stepping into the Talent Acquisition Specialist position in May. It's been a rewarding journey, and I'm grateful to continue being part of the Mindcolor team!
How did Mindcolor support your career growth?
Mindcolor has supported my career growth in so many ways, and I've been fortunate to have guidance from different departments along the way. My Center Director in Mequon was incredibly supportive when I expressed interest in transitioning to a remote role, encouraging me to pursue the opportunity and advocating for me. Once I joined the Talent team, my current boss continued to mentor me, helping me develop my skills and grow into my role. Now, as I prepare to step into the Talent Acquisition Specialist position, our co-founders have also been instrumental in supporting my transition. Mindcolor has always fostered an environment where growth is encouraged, and I'm grateful to be part of a team that believes in my potential!
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part of my job is getting to connect with people and play a role in bringing passionate individuals into Mindcolor. I love being part of the process that helps find the right fit for both our team and the candidates. It's rewarding to know that my work directly impacts not only the growth of the company but also the careers of those we hire. Seeing someone thrive in their new role, knowing I helped them get there, makes my job incredibly fulfilling!
Favorite Mindcolor memory? This could be work-related, team fun, events, competitions, etc.
One of my favorite Mindcolor memories was our water day at the Mequon center. We had popsicles and juice for the kids, and while it was definitely messy, it was so much fun seeing both the kids and staff light up with pure joy as they splashed around and enjoyed the treats. The excitement and happiness on everyone's faces made all the cleanup worth it! Another special memory was on one of my last days in the clinic—my team surprised me with a cake and a gift to celebrate not only my baby but also my transition into motherhood and my new role. It meant so much to feel that level of support and appreciation from my team, and it's a reminder of why I love being part of Mindcolor!
