At Mindcolor Autism we value and encourage the professional development and growth of team members at all levels of the organization. Training is a critical component to the success of all team members; by emphasizing the importance of our training practices, not only do we provide invaluable learning opportunities to our team members, but our clients directly benefit from these opportunities through their direct application to the betterment of the center and clinical services.
Our goal is to meet the needs of team members at all levels, incorporating trainings across a variety of modalities (live, asynchronous, modeling, competency-based), so we can capture various learning styles and support team members in their learning. In the sections below, we’ll highlight some of the exciting training opportunities that exist across the different positions at Mindcolor centers that support an environment of growth and learning for all members of the team!
As part of our initial training process, Behavior Technicians (BT) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are provided with:
Access to a 40-hour training for the RBT certification (BTs only)
Mindcolor specific training through our organization’s Learning Management System (LMS)
Session overlaps with well-trained, qualified team members in our Peer Mentor and Student Analyst roles to provide hands-on modeling and practice opportunities before independently working with clients
After the initial training is complete, BTs and RBTs are given ongoing access to new Mindcolor trainings, all of which focus on improving the client experience at our centers. In addition, ongoing session overlaps are not only welcomed but encouraged to ensure team members are able to learn about new clients, learn about complex cases, and learn about new areas of ABA they may not have experience with otherwise. Center Leadership also regularly conducts team meetings, without clients present, where they provide updates and training opportunities, as appropriate to the center’s needs.
Alongside a robust initial training experience for our Center Directors and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Mindcolor provides access to Continuing Education Unit (CEU) opportunities on an ongoing basis! CEUs are required trainings that further the skills of a BCBA on topics within the field of ABA. Our field values not just maintaining, but growing the skills of BCBAs, far beyond just passing the certification exam. This is valued so much so that all certified individuals must obtain a minimum amount of CEUs every few years to maintain their certification. Mindcolor BCBAs have access to a wide-range of CEUs from various platforms such as our LMS, CASP, and through a BCBAs own choosing (via a CEU stipend). Our Clinical Services team also identifies experts in the field that can bring valuable training to our teams and offers live CEU events – these are considered part of a team member’s day and do not require the use of PTO or other time off!
Our Center Directors receive a leadership training from Mindcolor’s Operational Leadership team on a monthly basis. The topics for these meetings are selected based on Center Director feedback and their direct requests for more training in a particular topic area. Our goal is to tailor these training sessions to meet the specific needs of a Center Director to further their professional development and help them guide the center with well-developed leadership skills.
We believe professional development in ABA therapy is an ongoing process; all team members at Mindcolor are encouraged to find excitement in learning not only for themselves but for their clients too! We hope to encourage a culture of learning through our training experiences and value our team's ability to dedicate time to furthering their knowledge in ABA.
