Meet Your ABA Therapy Clinical Team

Starting the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy journey is a significant step for our clients, but also our families. One of the key aspects of Mindcolor ABA therapy is the collaborative efforts of our skilled and dedicated clinical team. In this blog post, we will explore the roles of four essential team members on our ABA clinical team: Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Center Directors, and Regional Directors.

Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs): The heart of ABA Implementation

The RBT plays the most crucial role in the day-to-day implementation of ABA programming. Our RBTs are highly trained and work closely with our clients to provide direct therapy and implement behavior intervention plans under the supervision of our BCBAs. All of our RBTs complete a 40-hour training, initial competency assessment and then pass the RBT exam administered by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Once our team members pass this exam they receive ongoing supervision, adhere to the BACB ethics code, and renew their certification annually. These team members are the frontline practitioners who work tirelessly to ensure that programs are effectively carried out and progress is continually monitored. Depending on the client’s medically prescribed hours, clients can have anywhere from 2-4 RBTs on their team that provide one on one therapy. Some key responsibilities of our RBTs include: implementing behavior intervention plans, collecting data, and providing feedback to our BCBAs for ongoing assessment and program adjustments.

Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs): The Architects of ABA Programming

At the core of each client’s clinical team is the BCBA, a professional with advanced education and training in behavior analysis. Our BCBAs are responsible for determining individualized ABA programming, conducting assessments, RBT supervision and caregiver involvement training. Their expertise lies in understanding behavior patterns, developing intervention strategies and analyzing data to make informed decisions. All of our BCBAs complete yearly continuing education credits to drive change and create a brighter future for those on the spectrum. Our BCBAs have smaller caseloads to ensure not only client needs are being met but also our RBTs so they can provide the best possible therapy. Some key responsibilities of our BCBAs include: conducting functional behavior assessments, developing intervention plans, providing ongoing supervision and training to our RBTs, and collaborating with other professionals and caregivers to create a comprehensive treatment approach.

Center Director: Orchestrating Clinical Excellence

Our center directors serve as the leaders within each of our centers. They oversee the day-to-day operations and ensure that all clinical programming aligns with our values and our unwavering mission to help our clients achieve their maximum potential. Center directors play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and supportive environment for both our clients and team members. Some key responsibilities of our center directors include: managing team members and ensuring compliance with all Mindcolor policies, supporting professional development opportunities for team members, and providing support and guidance to BCBAs on their clinical cases.

Regional Director: Ensuring Consistency and Quality Across Our Centers

Our regional directors take on a broader role, overseeing multiple of our ABA therapy centers within their designated regions. They are instrumental in maintaining high standards of care, ensuring regulatory compliance, fostering strategic growth, and providing leadership and support to create a comprehensive and effective ABA therapy network. Some key responsibilities of our regional directors include: providing leadership support to our center directors, monitoring adherence to our clinical and compliance standards, and collaborating with external stakeholders such as school districts and community organizations. They also provide clinical support and consultation to all levels of clinical team members throughout each of the centers in their region.

The one thing all four roles have in common? Every team member is a strong advocate, enthusiastic cheerleader and biggest supporter of our clients. In the world of ABA therapy, success is built upon the collaborative efforts of a dedicated clinical team. Each team member brings unique skills and perspectives, contributing to the overall success and well-being of our clients and families receiving our services.
